Who is Booglemonster?

David I. Crowley, M.D.David I. Crowley, M.D. is the booglemonster. I am a pediatric cardiologist in training and such a computer geek. Seeing as most of my family still doesn't get why I'm still "in training" and not "a real doctor yet" (and they've heard me explain it about a milliion times!), I'd better share with you what I mean.

I graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor of arts degree with honors in biochemistry in 1999, from the University of Utah School of Medicine with an MD in 2004 (and became a "real doctor"), and from pediatric residency at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at the Maine Medical Center in 2004 (to become a "real" board certified pediatrician).

Where I am now

I matched in Cincinnati, OH at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology (so I can become a board certified Pediatric Cardiologist). I completed my 3 years of pediatric cardiology, but stayed on for a fourth year in order to hone my non-invasive imaging skills (i.e. echocardiography, fetal echo, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT).

Let's see. That's 3 years of college (I graduated early from Harvard, but it was spread out over 5 years due to serving a 2-year mission), plus 4 years of med school, plus 3 years of residency, plus 4 years of fellowship. One of these days, I'll start making a little money so I can pay off the med school debt...

How I spend my free time

As you can see, I'm totally a geek. In my free time, I program websites, like this one. I blame it [being such a computer geek] mostly on Girglemonster. But I am very glad she introduced me to the world wide web. Here's some of the stuff I've created since she got me hooked on the web:

My Music

While I used to sing with the Harvard University Choir, I've not been singing professionally since then. But, Girglemonster recently introduced me to the world of music recording. She's knows a lot more about the whole recording process, and she writes and sings her own music. But here's just a little part of my first "solo" recording of myself (well, it's really 10 recordings of my voice, all the way from Tenor 1 down to Bass 2). After spending just a couple hours in our basement recording and re-recording this short bit of someone else's arrangement, I have a much better understanding of just how much work it takes to write the lyrics, compose the music, record the instrumentals and vocals, and mix it all down. I can't believe how well and how fast Girgles does it!
